The Detective Post #2

News from the Outdoors

This week the Nature Detectives ventured out into the meadow and forest, beginning to uncover the 40 acres we have here at Woodend!

We continued our discovery of our playground and outdoor classroom as well, building volcanos in the sandbox, transforming our play structure into a pirate ship, as well as creating hammocks and cocoons out of outdoor scarves!

In the forest we uncovered the lookout spot, where we had fun rolling logs, jumping on stomps as well as using our eyes and ears to observe the forest around us.

The AM class also used their noses to explore our children’s garden up at the mansion! We observed many growing plants and are excited to return to see how they continue to grow over the season.

News from the Classroom

The Nature Detectives continued to explore our indoor classroom, enjoying puzzle time on the floor, dressed up for adventures in dramatic play, and worked together in collaborative painting activities!

This week we opened our block area, introducing our unit blocks along with the natural materials. Large castles were constructed, as well as towers and deep construction sites!

The PM class enjoyed creating their own play dough, mixing blue and pink colored paints to create new, purple play dough!

Follow the Rules (tune-Twinkle, Twinkle)

Here are rules for you and me,

See how useful they can be,

Show respect, be safe and kind,

Be responsible all the time,

These are rules that we all know,

Follow these rules wherever we go!
