News from the Outdoors

This week at school we continued our exploration of the forest and gardens around Woodend! We took trips to the lookout tower, where we stacked sticks, spied deer through the trees, practiced our jumping on stumps as well as turned fallen trees into passenger trains! Along the way, we mixed in hide-and-seek games, tree climbing, as well as visiting the mansion compost bins!

The PM class enjoyed our first trip to the pond! We searched for frogs, hunted for animal tracks in the mud as well as observing the water bugs from the dock.

News from the Classroom

During our meeting time this week, we met some puppet friends who introduced the Nature Detectives to the rules of the preschool! We used our song that outlines being kind, safe, responsible, and respectful to discuss how that looks when we are together at school.

In the block area, we opened up ramps! We explored making our own ramps out of new triangle shaped blocks along with ramp toys.

The AM class enjoyed illustrating and authored our first birthday book of the year! They enjoyed drawing outside as well as sharing their collaborative work during our closing story time!
