Detective Post #4

News From the Outdoors:

Despite some rainy weather, we had a great week exploring Woodend. In addition to taking hikes to the Lookout and Pond, we had our first Naturalist Hike with Miss Alex.

Painting the Barn!

Miss Alex led the Nature Detectives on a color hike, looking for different colors in Nature. The Nature Detectives also spotted lots of tree nuts on the ground with signs of animal-dining activity nearby. The Nature Detectives also got to roll some logs and see lots of interesting things. The AM class saw a large brownish-orange toad and the PM class got to see a baby mouse!

News From the Classroom:

This week we began to talk about the Farm in anticipation of our field trip to Homestead Farms next week. The Nature Detectives played an animal sorting game with the mystery box, and explored lots of farm-themed learning centers throughout the classroom. The kids painted their own barn for the classroom, dressed up as farm animals, and stored corn in silos at the discovery table. In our art center we created still-life drawings with oil pastels and made colorful corn with dot paints.

The AM class also got to meet Miss Ann-Mari our classroom volunteer, who will be joining the Nature Detectives every Thursday. She’s a veteran Nature Preschool teacher and we are excited to have her be part of our school!
